Grrrr That's Annoying

I was fiddling around with some of the features of blogger and how Flickr can post pictures to it from within the Flickr interface. I made an experimental post in draft and while experimenting, I deleted the prior post instead of the experimental post. That'll teach me to flip back and forth in between tabs and pay close enough attention.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled silence...

Blogger Mix And Match: "Mixing RL and SL – The dynamics and pitfalls of living and playing in SL with your RL significant other"

I participated in the Blogger's Mix And Match, allowing my neglected blog to receive a much needed new post and a good dose of something that I know nothing about, playing SL with a RL partner. That matches my post to Vint's blog about Non-profits in SL, another topic I know nothing about, but still wrote far too many words regarding.

Cat Magellan, owner of the Get A Second Life blog, wrote this wonderful post about her meeting, falling in love, and relationship with her partner. Thankfully, she didn't write in Portuguese like the rest of her blog, so I could read and appreciate her story.

Merrick Thor of the N0nslensical blog suggested the topic.

Without further blabbering by me...

I wish – for the sake of my readers – that I could write a spicy piece about love, disgrace, sorrow, treason and flying plates and knives, but my impressions about the subject are boring, since my story is plain and simple. However, lately, I've found out that it was a very rare thing, so maybe by telling it, it may help some people. Or maybe not, who knows? These things don't depend solely on us…

Starting from the beginning,: one day I entered the grid and blogged about it on my RL blog. A lot of readers followed me. Some of them were bloggers and blog-friends for a long time. So, I've entered the grid and soon, some friends were sort of around. Everybody knows how this works: people get together and start exploring. And doing talking, a lot of talking.

To cut the story short and because 99% will remember that the same happened to them at some time or other, and know how things get going in SL, I became very close to one of these friends. We would walk around, talk, find places, talk, meet people, talk, discover things, talk and then, SL offline, send emails, then talk on the phone and write a lot of weird stuff on our blogs. And one day, with no fuss, not telling anybody else, no parties, we became partners on SL. And very very close friends in RL. We wanted to meet each other, but we lived on different countries, so that was quite difficult to implement, and we continued to talk and talk and talk (and not getting enough sleep…). For a long time we were friends and virtual lovers. For something like 8 or 9 months.

Let me tell you, it's hard. Very hard. Being together everyday and, at the same time, being apart, kills you. It's a very difficult mixture to manage; the completely stupid total happiness and the angst of not knowing. Oh, you know, you are so sure that this is the person you imagine it will be in RL. We started by playing houses in SL, we bought land, then a sim with some friends. You know your partners' favorite curtain colors and you know your partners' soul, inside out. Yes, you are completely sure…except for that 0,000001% of probability that there will be no "klick", no pheromones kicking, no hearts beating fast when you meet face to face. This is all very well, the soul side and soul mating stuff, but RL is made of more than that, let's be realistic.

Well, we survived all those months. Not without efforts, not without guts. As time went by, the more anguished we became. In the end we might as well had forgotten the whole thing, give it up, maybe it wouldn't be worth it. Your friends support you but tell each other you have gone nuts and need medication. I guess that what kept us both going, besides the romantic feelings, was our very strong friendship. We would dream about perfect encounters, but then talk about how we felt very openly with each other. We were very honest, from day zero. That's something to keep in mind, if you want to survive something like that.

Finally, D-day arrived. We met. We survived the first terrible five minutes and the next few hours just talking and looking at each other. And then it seemed like we knew each other forever. We became partners RL, till now. We are together for almost 2 years. We still do not live in the same country, we both have our lives quite settled where we are. We speak every single day, we spend all our holidays together. Some months ago, we found out we were speaking about SL too much. Funny this and a danger to a relationship: we meet in SL and speak about everything possible, and then we go from there and talk about SL most of the time. My partner almost left the grid. I took SL more slowly, and things started working out better for us from then on. Of course, all of this is not without pain or fights: we are an absolutely normal couple who gets mad at all the routine stuff. We argue about, well, almost everything, it seems. We also laugh a lot. Guess we are on the right track here. :)

Oh and btw…he's arriving tomorrow. :D

Thank you Cat for the wonderful post and good luck with the relationship.

Everybody Wants To Write A Book

It's been said that everyone wants to write a book. But, it's hard, time consuming, and you have to find a publisher. Self publishing is expensive and problematic. In others, it's hard work.

Until now.

Blurb has an application where you can design a book, get it printed, etc.

But where to get all of the content...

Did I mention, that Blurb's application, which runs on both Mac and PC, can slurp data, pictures, etc from the web? From your blog on Blogger, Wordpress, Flickr, and others? It can download and auto-typeset for you, all of your blog's content, then you can go in and tweak it to perfection.

Well, now I mentioned it :)

And when you're done, you can sell it on the web through Blurb.

Prices begin at $12.95.

To all you bloggers wishing to be an author and who have already authored a bunch of content, slurp your photos and articles into a book and put it up for sale.

Feedburner Better Be Wrong...

I was going through my Feedburner stats just a moment ago and everything seemed fine...
Traffic. Normal. Check.
Subscribers. Hmmm, a bit down. Check.
Incoming links. Usual suspects. Check.
Outgoing links. Usual...

Hey! wait a minute!

I don't remember writing about "Huge Teen Tits!"

Hmmm, or did I...

Nah, that'd be weird, even for me.

Search blog. No results.

Weird. Use Feedburner to track it down...

Darn! Some spammer slipped an ad into my blog...

I Will Not Have My Voice Stilled

A number of prominent blogs are "going on strike" against the new policies Linden Labs has made about use of their trademarked material. This is the post I made to the blogger's community. Edit: Woo Hoo! Someone else thinks the same as I do about not being silent.

I won't stop posting, depriving the world of me for three days would be a crime worse than anything Linden Labs has done.

But seriously, I plan to continue to post - the more we rabble rouse and actually post using terms, names, and icons that Linden Labs has stated they will not tolerate - the faster we will force them to take action. The faster they take action, the better - it will cause *something* to happen, which is better than a silent stalemate.

If both sides are silent, Linden and us, that isn't helpful. People don't notice voids, they notice activity. In real world strikes, the strikers picket and make noise. They stand around and force the world to take notice of the inequities of the situation. In the virtual world, silence is the *opposite* of what picketing and participating in a strike in the real world is like - it's like all of the workers went home and stayed in bed, it's more like a "sick out" than a strike. No one would notice because no attention was being drawn to the situation. The only ones hurt are those who actually go out and picket and have no support.

We should raise our voices in a cacophony of violations against their new terms, forcing them to speak up or risk losing their ability to enforce their new terms. Imagine if they started to send out Cease and Desist letters - and we ignored them. Then they would be forced to act on their own policies and suspend people.

Imagine the press that suspending well known and popular avatars would bring to this. It would bring more attention to this than being silent ever could. However, being silent incurs no risk.

If we don't force them to act and act decisively, they can be quiet about it and enforce it whenever they feel like it or hold it over our heads. This situation does not call for inaction, it calls for *more* action.

I plan to continue to stick my virtual neck out and continue to post. If the rest of you want to do what LL wants, which is to obey their new terms and not use "infringing" material, go ahead and don't post.

But then, I'm a rabble rouser who tends to be mouthy towards authorities.

Lesbiazo

Wow, a lot of people clicked on the page link to the Eudeamon post, I bet it's because its such an unusual word that people were curious what it was, perhaps I should title more of my posts with obscure Greek words and see how that drives traffic. Hmmm, I think I already did :)

To explain the word above, lesbiazo, if you guessed it had to do with the Isle of Lesbos, you are correct. However, unlike what you may think, the Ancient Greeks did not associate that Isle with female homoeroticism, but instead with using the lips to induce pleasure during sex, specifically, the act of fellatio. So, that word above, contrary to what you may have first thought, is in fact the Greek word for blowjob.

The Ancient Greeks also referred to blowjobs as "playing the flute", a tradition that I've still heard today. Who said the Greeks only gave us useless things like math, philosophy, medicine, drama, humor, natural science, and engineering - more importantly they gave us crucial slang for sex.

How Not To Run For Governor

As I've mentioned before, I periodically browse my site stats and see if anything interesting turns up. One recent search that led to my blog struck me as funny, "how to campaign for governorship". I pity the poor political hopeful that tries to follow my example of running for governor.
Let's see:
1) Make a political speech based on a twisted version of a famous Shakespeare speech. Check.
2) Make a political speech based on a twisted version of a famous Lincoln speech. Check.
3) Disappear from sight for three months. Check.

I think this person has the governorship of their state in the bag. I bet the electorate is filled with literate Shakespeare lovers from the Union, who love a good laugh and no action.

I Sense A Disturbance In The Pink Side Of The Force

As if a million bimbos cried out "Duh?!" and then were silent...

A strange thing has been happening over the past day to my blog traffic. Normally, I receive 1-2 search results a day for "make me a bimbo" or "how to be a bimbo", since I'm #1 and #2 respectively for those search results on Google.

In the past day, those traffic numbers have spiked dramatically, and I've received 51 unique visitors in about 24 hours for "how to be a bimbo" and 12 unique visitors for "make me a bimbo". My Make Me A Bimbo post briefly passed my homepage on the number of hits it received. I can't explain why there arose this sudden interest in acting like a bimbo.

Even though I am a bimbo, all of my posts about the "make me a bimbo" phenomena are merely pointing out that I'm highly ranked on Google for that phrase. But then again, these are bimbo wannabes searching for the information.

To all of the wannabe bimbos out there who are discovering my blog for the first time, welcome! I think I'll have to turn up the bimbo quotient here for a while to satisfy the growing need for bimbo related material. In the mean time, check out the Mistress Strangelove series for reading, hopefully my ditziness will rub off on you. For the love of god, avoid the first post in the "bimbo's guide" series on LSL scripting, it'll make your fluffy pink head hurt - it makes mine hurt and I wrote it.

Or maybe this is a result of the launch of my "inTiessa" brand...

Happy Blogiversary To Me!

Happy Blogiversary To Me! Happy Blogiversary To Me! Happy Blogiversary Dear Tiessa, Happy Blogiversary To Me! You look like a Bimbo and you act like one too!

Today, March 6th, is the one year blogiversary of me getting first post to this blog and essentially dominating it's content since then. I bet you've been anticipating this as much as I have and planned a huge surprise party for me with cake, balloons, and male strippers. Plus, plenty of other presents, of course. Yay! Send in the strippers and let me start to pig out on cake, ice cream, and, well, strippers... ;)

I have a present for all of you out there who have read my blog throughout this past year, a big thank you for showing such good taste. Or whatever excuse you want to give for why you read my blog...

My next post will also mark the 100th post to the blog, in addition to being my present to you for being such great readers. A nice milestone at a perfect juncture. I'm bursting at the seams to give you your present, so, without further adieu, I give you the next chapter in the Mistress Strangelove series...

I Love The Smell Of Bugs In The Morning

Imagine my surprise when I looked at my blog this afternoon and there were weird people looking back at me from my profile picture. How the heck did that happen? Did someone hack Blogger? Or did their database references just become corrupt or something.

I looked at the guys more up close and they aren't even that attractive. Darn.

Then I noticed someone hiding under the title bar. What's wrong with my site? Why is someone with a stethoscope and lab coat sitting under my title bar?

That isn't even one of my kinks. So, annoyed to have to deal with this, I went to the profile editing, uploaded my profile picture. *Again*. And now the two weird guys in the mirror aren't staring out at me and doctors aren't hiding underneath of my title. But now I don't have any profile picture. Re-uploading didn't help.

So, for now that spot will remain blank until I figure out what's up. Maybe Blogger will fix itself, maybe I'll re-upload once a day until it works again. Maybe you won't have my cute face to look at every time you read my blog. Come to think of it, that's a tragedy, no one should be deprived of *me*. I wonder if Blogger has an emergency hotline for bugs that are super important.

Some People Are Crabby Spoil Sports

In researching if my blog is still #1 on the "make me a bimbo" search at Google, I looked at some of the other links and this one stuck out as being very amusing, but not in the way the author intended.

First off, look at the pictures of the people who write for that newspaper's blog, can you picture a less humorless bunch of people? I grew up in the Midwest, can you guess why I don't live there anymore?

Second, comments like, "These girls will never be happy until they decide to grow up," show the true nature of the commenter more than the nature of the target of their ire. That really should be re-phrased as, "I will never be happy until they decide to grow up." What a curmudgeon view of the universe this person espouses. I think it's just sour grapes that the author of that comment wishes they would have had a bit more of an "ill-spent youth" and enjoyed themselves.

Finally, the comments quickly degenerate into a bunch of "You young people are all ungrateful and lazy." But, chalk one up for the bimbos of the world with the following comment exchange:

Regardless, the actions of a few idiots shouldn't reflect on my entire generation.

Sorry bimbo, but it's not just "the actions of a few idiots". A major portion of your generation act like they're a few bricks shy of a load. That said, your generation isn't much different than any other recent generation. You just need a little seasoning/maturity/experience. I'm confident yours will be a productive generation given some time (and age).

XXX,
Let me say again, self righteous baby boomers make me laugh. I see a few brick short of a full load when I see my parents old high school friends that were taken in by the drug culture of the seventies and are now brain dead.

Me? Just graduated on dean's list, and landed a very good job thanks to persistant interviewing and persuing.

But don't worry. The baby boomer generation will be very productive at some point.... I'm sure. Really. One of these days...

Social Rank And Sweet Second Life Useless?

I think Crap Mariner is right, SocialRank and SweetSecondLife are full of crap. I submitted my own site to them, I also made certain blogs like Vint's and Veyron's were submitted to them, considering how much traffic they get. Not one of these four blogs show up on their social rank. Looking at SL TopSites, Technorati, and others, at least one of these sites should make it into SocialRank. But no. Electric Sheep, however, shows up twice. I think their site is broken.

A Bit Of Self-Indulgent Narcissism

Being bored with the concept of doing work today, having already posted to the blog, and having not looked at my site analytics in a while, I decided to look and see what people have been finding on my site.

The high ranking keywords for my site are, "All Things Tiessa", no surprise there, "SL Escorts", hmmm, I haven't done that in ages, "make me a bimbo", a perennial favorite on this blog, "second life big boobs", and, interestingly enough, a phrase that is second only to "All Things Tiessa", "Aristotle, he made a claim that later proved incorrect." Where else can you get bimbos, big boobs, and discussions of the veracity of Aristotle in one cute package? Oh, and I have the most darling dimples as well :)

The current top links are I Is A Smart Bimbo, "Long Absences And Unexpected Exposures", and "Fear Of Barbie's Big Boobs".

Hmmm, I sense a theme :)

Just as a sort of weird recursive irony, the "Make Me A Bimbo" reference on my site, which is one of my hit generators, is another post commenting on how that phrase is one of my hit generators. No actual content was produced in the making of this hit driver.

Re-reading that post of mine, I definitely have to do a series of 'A Bimbo's Guide to...' posts with 'A Bimbo's Guide To Being A Bimbo,' being one of the first. I bet the Mean Girls would have a field day with me if I ever made it onto their radar.

Make Me A Bimbo

I was going through my Google Analytics and looking at what people who came to my site from Google searched for.

make me a bimbo: Type this into Google and I'm the *third* result - yay me! In searching for just 'bimbo' to see if I placed in the top 10 pages, which I don't, I found this wonderful definition of bimbo: "Bimbo is short for the term 'body impressive brain optional'." That has got to be my new slogan.

Perhaps I will start a deportment school to teach 'How To Be A Bimbo' to innocent wallflowers who want to blossom. Or write 'An Idiot's Guide To Being A Bimbo". Even better, write 'A Bimbo's Guide To....' I'm making a mental note to start a new series based on that idea as soon as possible. Heck, I'll trademark it :)

Other notable Google search terms that lead to my page are:
"second life" "mistress" escort: For which this site places *second* - now all I have to do is sit back and wait for the submissive male clients to roll in :)

screaming catholic orgasm: Something I know *nothing* about. Or so I would have the nuns believe.

second life alliance navy: Where I place on the fourth page. BTW, I found out who the Alliance Navy's enemies are. I will post that separately.

Going through the referrals and the search terms is always amusing for a site. You end up discovering the weird things people search for.
